Poonam Dhillon praises Ranveer Singh

The Hindi film industry has been buzzing with intense discussions surrounding the highly anticipated action franchise Don 3. Following unexpected creative differences, lead actor Ranveer Singh made headlines for his exit from the mega project. The situation briefly escalated into a major industry dispute, drawing in key trade unions and regulatory bodies.

However, the narrative has shifted from conflict to a masterclass in professional ethics. Veteran actress and current Cine and TV Artistes Association president Poonam Dhillon has openly praised Ranveer Singh for his mature handling of the situation. Her public support highlights a rare example of accountability in Bollywood, particularly regarding financial compensation for preproduction losses.

The Financial Reality Of The Don 3 Dispute

The controversy initially ignited when reports surfaced that Ranveer Singh had walked away from the Farhan Akhtar directorial venture. Excel Entertainment, the production house helmed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, had already poured significant capital into the preproduction phase. Early industry estimates suggested that the sudden departure left the makers dealing with massive logistical and scheduling disruptions, alongside expenses accumulating close to forty five crore rupees.

As tension mounted, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees briefly issued a noncooperation directive against the actor. While that directive was quickly revoked after legal clarifications, the core financial issue remained.

Stepping forward with immense integrity, Ranveer Singh chose to return his entire signing amount, which reportedly stood at ten crore rupees. Furthermore, sources revealed that the actor proposed a comprehensive settlement package. This proposal included immediate financial compensation to offset the losses of the producers, alongside a significant twenty five percent fee reduction for any future collaboration with Excel Entertainment.

Poonam Dhillon Backs Creative Rights Of Lead Actors

Speaking on behalf of the artist community, Poonam Dhillon expressed immense admiration for the professional conduct of the actor. In an industry where legal battles over aborted projects can drag on for decades, she noted that the proactive step taken by the star is incredibly rare. She remarked that kudos must go to him because he offered real compensation for the losses incurred and instantly returned the initial signing amount, adding that many individuals in similar positions do not even attempt to do that.

The veteran star also emphasized that top actors must possess a decisive voice in the creative development of their projects. Lead actors carry the absolute burden of commercial performance on their shoulders. If a massive franchise film fails to connect with the audience, the lead star ultimately bears the brunt of the public criticism and media backlash. Therefore, backing out of a project due to genuine script or execution concerns is a legitimate creative right that should be respected by production houses.
