Kis Kisko Pyaar Karun 2 Film Review

The sequel that had everyone waiting, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, finally hit theaters. It brought together situational comedy and romantic chaos pretty much as expected by the audiences, considering that the original was a sleeper hit. T directed by Abbas Mustan, this film tries to raise the ante on the multi marriage premise with the comediance king Kapil Sharma acting once again as the poor guy caught between two wives and the ensuing madness following it. But does the sequel recapture the magic or does the complicated web of romance finally tangle up the script?

The Familiar Premise Gets a Modern Update

The basic plot remains comically convoluted: a man, played by Kapil Sharma this time, is forced by freakish circumstances to have multiple wives in different cities. While the original took place largely in one location, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 expands the scope-the geographical as well as the emotional distance between the wives. This scaling up is engineered to yield louder laughs and more hair-raising close calls.

The writers have intelligently imbued the story with contemporary elements-such as the use of social media and modern-day travel logistics-which gave new dimensions to the character’s desperate cover-ups. At times, though, it feels forced, and there are plot holes which not even Kapil Sharma’s charm can paper over smoothly.

Kapil Sharma: The Soul of the Sequel

No review of a Kapil Sharma film can ever be complete if it fails to focus on him. As the man stuck between commitment and catastrophe, Kapil Sharma is, without any shred of doubt, the biggest asset of the film. He relies heavily on his comic timing to perfection, genuine vulnerability, and his trademark style of delivering humourous one liners with a straight face.

His performance is a masterclass in physical comedy, especially when the story perpetually races against time to keep his lives separate. Where the screenplay falters occasionally, Kapil’s ready charm and energy keep the film from becoming wearisome repetition of the original. He’s the anchor that ensures the audience empathizes with his problem as much as they laugh at his poor choices.

The Women and Supporting Cast: More Than Wives

The wives are played by a fine ensemble of actresses, each bringing a different personality to her role. Kapil Sharma surprisingly shares good chemistry with the leading ladies. Supporting them is an able backup of comedians who are veterans and faces familiar; their convergence at the climax, where all the subplots meet, is absolutely fab. Their timely interventions and reactions form the lifeline of this comic roller coaster.

A slight drawback, however, is that some of the female characters feel underdeveloped. While they are central to the plot, their motivations occasionally seem shallow, serving mostly as catalysts for the male protagonist’s troubles rather than fully fleshed-out individuals.

Music and Technical Aspects: Keeping it Light

The music, pleasant as it is, has no chartbusters to remember after the credits roll. Songs are, however, knit well into the narrative and serve the purpose of taking forward the romantic bits. Technically, the film is well shot. Director duo Abbas Mustan continue their tradition of ‘clean and slick’ style and that gives the crazy situations a bright, endearing look. The cuts are razor-sharp, which is required for a comedy with split second timing and haphazard cuts.

The Bottom Line: A Bumpy but Fun Ride

Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 is a classic case of an entertainer that is bigger than the sum of its parts. It doesn’t have a groundbreaking storyline, and yes, it borrows heavily from its first part. However, it delivers exactly what it claims to offer with its trailer: two hours of escapist fun and hearty laughter.

If you enjoy Kapil Sharma’s brand of humor and are looking for a lighthearted, stress-busting movie experience, this sequel is a definite watch. It may not achieve the iconic status of the original but does offer enough laugh-out-loud moments to justify a trip to the cinema. It is a mass entertainer that aims for the funny bone and succeeds more often than not.
