Harish Rai passed away on Thursday, November 6, at Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology in Bengaluru. He was fighting stage 4 thyroid cancer which reportedly spread to his stomach. His health had deteriorated in the last few months as he was visibly bloated and had lost oodles of weight.

Despite the treatment, Rai remained in a critical state. In a video shared by social media influencer Gopi Gowdru, the actor was seen asking for financial support, citing the high costs of his treatment. He said a single injection for his ailment would cost over ₹1 lakh.
